A benefit for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the Children’s Christmas Parade happens on Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. to noon rain or shine. The Children’s Christmas Parade begins at Peachtree Street near Baker Street and follows Peachtree Street to Marietta Street. Then it will turn right onto Marietta Street and ends on Centennial Olympic Park Drive. The 27th Annual Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes takes place this weekend in Decatur, Georgia. This yearly event includes eight homes and two points of interest that are open for the public to see. The tour takes place both Friday, December 4th & Saturday, December 5th from 5:30-9:30 pm. The homes and points of interest are close enough together to walk or catch the free shuttle provided by the Decatur Active Living Department from the First Baptist Church parking lot at the corner of Clairemont Avenue and Commerce Drive. Advance ticket purchases are $20 and can be found at these four Decatur locations: Seventeen Steps, The Seen Gallery, Bicycle South and Ace Intown Hardware. Tickets can purchased on the night of the tours from the participating homes for $25. You can download a map of the home tours from their website. Proceeds from this event benefit the Decatur Youth Fund and Decatur Preservation Alliance.
