Spring Forward This Weekend!

It’s that time again! Spring time is here and hopefully Spring weather is coming soon! Before you go to bed on Saturday night, set your clock 1 hour ahead so your time is correct when you wake up! Daylight Saving Time officially begins on the second Sunday of March every year which is March 14th at 2 am, this year.

Notice it’s officially “Daylight Saving Time” and not “Daylight Savings Time”. This change of our clocks originated by the United States during World War I in order to save energy for war production by taking advantage of the later hours of daylight between April and October. In 2007, the 2005 Energy Policy Act extended Daylight Saving Time by four weeks from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November, with the hope that it would save 10,000 barrels of oil each day through reduced use of power by businesses during daylight hours.

In appreciation for longer days to benefit our mother earth, it’s always nice to have longer lit days to do things outside like gardening in your new home! What do you plan to with the longer daylight coming soon?
