In conjunction with the Atlanta Grant Park Summer Shade Festival, the Corks and Forks 2009 – A Fine Food and Wine Event happens this weekend, Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, 2009. Pairing some of Atlanta’s best chefs with wines and craft beers, Grant Park Conservancy invites you and your taste buds to a salivating experience in the heart of Atlanta. There will be sit-down workshops on tasting and selection of the wine and beer choices along with a family friendly event. The Grant Park Summer Shade Festival will showcase an artist market, live entertainment on three stages, a 5K Run, a family fun zone, a Saturday night movie under the stars and so much more. The chef line up will be different each day and passes are sold separately by day but  a 2 day package is available as well. If you like food with wine or beer pairings, then this sounds like a great event for you!

The 6th annual German Biefest takes place on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta, GA. Admission includes all the beer you can safely consume and a commemorative glass for the first 1,500 visitors. Taste all of your favorite German beers including some you may not have tried. From the popular Beck’s to Paulaner to Schlenkerla Rauchbier or the trendy Koelsch, this festival has you covered in German beers, music and food. Children and designated drivers do not have to pay an entrance fee so bring them along! You must be 21 and purchase a ticket to drink!

From May thru October, the Chastain Park Civic Association (CPCA) has been providing the Chastain Chill. A free concerts every Tuesday in the playground area of Chastain Park, this provides free music in a family oriented atmosphere from 4 pm – 7 pm every Tuesday from now until October. As the  CPCA say it, “Bring a picnic and a blanket and come chill with family after a long day at Chastain Park!”

The Annual Slotin Folk Art Fest also known as the Folk Fest is celebrating it’s sweet 16th this weekend, August 14 – 16, 2009. Taking place for 3 days, this festival has become known for unique folk style artwork, pottery and even antiques from various self-taught artist throughout the United States. The festival always kicks off with a Meet the Artist Party Friday night in which admission gets you into the festival all 3 days and gives you a free t-shirt. If you love art, then this is a festival you don’t want to miss.
