This Saturday, October 10, 2009, seems to be a big day for several events going on around the Atlanta areas. The Oakhurst Arts and Music Festival takes place in Harmony Park in Oakhurst Village at the Corner of East Lake Drive and Oakview Road. From 10 am-7 pm, come enjoy 50 artist booths in the artist market, live music, kids activities and local food and beverage vendors. This festival does include a Oakhurst Arts Run which starts at 8am One Step at a Time and ends at the same place. Walkers, strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. If you have never experienced Oakhurst, a little cozy and eclectic town tucked away inside Decatur, this would be the perfect opportunity for you to do so!

Show off your animals and support them at the same time by attending and participating in the Ahimsa House Walk n’ Wag. Fun, food and entertainment will all be provided making this perfect for the entire family including your pets. This festival will include 1 mile and a 1/2 mile walks, silent auction, microchipping & nail clipping by a vet, pet contests, different local vendor booths, live music by indie rock band Henry Porter, food vendors, a doggie art station and more. So don’t miss out on a fun day with your family and pets. It cost to participate in the dog walk which cost goes toward the event and support of the Ahimsa House. Rules do apply in bringing your pet so be sure to check the website for all of the details.

92.9 Dave FM is a popular radio station here in the Atlanta area known for bringing good and free live music to the area. Now they are hosting the Acoustic Sunset Fall Series every Sunday in October located in the Smyrna Market Village from 4 – 7 p.m. This is perfect for the weekend wind down.

Music @ Noon is a free way to get out from behind your desk at lunch in the downtown Atlanta area. Every Tuesday and Thursday in October, you can go to Centennial Olympic Park and listen to free live music from different local musicians. Bring your lunch, a blanket and your co-workers to get outside for a change. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The music is from noon – 1 pm featuring different music genres including: pop, R&B and jazz.

This seems to be the last month for 2009 to see free movies at Atlantic Station’s Movies and the Market. Bring your family, blankets and picnic to enjoy blockbuster movie favorites each Thursday night in Central Park. Movies start at dusk (around 8:45 – 9:00 pm) but get there early to get a good lawn spot.
