Throughout this summer, Family Fun Day Atlanta events will be held every fourth Saturday at Centennial Olympic Park, offering fun for the whole family. From noon – 4:00pm, enjoy kids crafts & workshops, life-size chess games, appearances by local sports mascots, street performers, family-friendly performances, and more. Each event month has a different theme and these fun days take place from April through September. For this month, plan to enjoy the outdoors tomorrow at June’s family fun day for the “Great Outdoors” theme. Next month in July, the theme will be “It’s about Sports”! Have fun!

This weekend, The Chamblee Farmer’s Market will be opening. Starting tomorrow, Saturday, June 18, 2010, you can shop weekly for your fruits and vegetables in the Frosty Caboose parking lot. This summer, the farmer’s market will have approximately 10 vendors participating to offer you the freshest products, using organic and naturally-grown practices.
Vendors will be providing fruits, vegetables, honey, meat, eggs, flowers, bread, cheese, and so much more. In addition to the products you can purchase, the Chamblee Farmer’s Market plans to educate shoppers through its series of on-site chef demos and educational presentations. And, this Saturday, there will be live music too!
As part of the Market’s Grand Opening celebration, the 1st annual summer raffle will be held Tuesday, June 22nd from 7-9 p.m. at Valenza Restaurant, with all proceeds benefiting the Chamblee Farmers Market. Tickets cost $20 each, with only 600 to be sold. Some of the items that will be raffled off:
~A wine pairing from Holiday Wine & Spirits for up to twelve guests in the privacy of your own home. Includes a sampling from boutique wine producers as well as artisanal meats and cheeses from around the world ($350 value).
~Dinner for 6 at Valenza Restaurant, alcohol and gratuity not included ($300 value).
~Dinner for 6 at Haven Restaurant and Bar, alcohol and gratuity not included ($300 value).
~A 2-day class at Maison Robert Fine Chocolates on the basics of working with chocolate ($100 value).
